The vision for this project was to create a soft, natural landscape that blends with the house. A combination of native and adapted drought tolerant plants provide color and an easy maintenance landscape. Two new understory trees add seasonal interest; a redbud adds vibrant pink color in the spring, while an arbutus shows off white flowers in the fall and beautiful red berries throughout the year. An area for colorful annuals was included. Stacked stone planters provide structure and tie the landscape to the house. In the back, the existing concrete patio was expanded with curving flagstone and a seat wall. The backyard space is flexible to accommodate large events or intimate gatherings, and winding pathways connect both patios allowing people to wander and experience the yard.
